Hello.  We are Patterson Elementary, and this is our story.  We are located in the heart of Southeast Georgia in a rural, family-friendly area - where our school is the center of the community.  Our student population consists of 480 students in grades Pre-K through 5.    Patterson is such a desirable place to raise a family that we were voted one of the top 50 places to live in the nation by U.S. Weekly in 2007.

All stakeholders share a common vision and purpose at PES.  The mission of our school is to build a foundation that promotes excellence.  High student expectations are a driving force in our school.  School improvement is a priority and focus in order to increase the achievement of all learners.

We have an exemplary group of teachers and staff committed to ensuring student success, who reinvests their time and talents back into our school and our community.  The staff at PES consists of 100 percent highly qualified teachers who participate in frequent and ongoing professional development in an effort to meet the demands of an ever-changing society.

Data analysis drives the instructional practices at PES.  Teachers are provided collaborative planning time to revisit pacing guides, create benchmarks and weekly standards-based checklists.   Teachers facilitate learning through teacher commentary, student self-assessment and goal setting, and meaningful hands-on activities.  Administrators, faculty and staff are committed to implementing research-based, best practices such as Bookworms reading curriculum, Eureaka Math, Developing Strategic Writers curriculum, vertical planning, collaborative learning/curriculum chatter, differentiation, and standards-based classroom/reporting.

We believe that our key to success lies in our ability to build and maintain positive, meaningful relationships with our students and stakeholders.  PES hosts many distinctive community events throughout the year. These include an annual Fall Festival, Veteran's Day Program, Christmas Open House and Community Volunteer Luncheon.  A particular point of pride for our school is Patterson Proud Week.  This culminating end-of-year activity celebrates student success and shows appreciation to our stakeholders.

At Patterson Elementary, our motto is Promoting Excellence as the Standard!
